In this post I will be discussing why the thickness of a rolling paper can affect the quality of your smoke.

In an ideal world you always want to have the thinnest paper possible as this means you are consuming less unnecessary toxins and more of the ‘good’ stuff.

However thin rolling papers come with their own hindrance as if the paper is too thin you can get the problem of side burning. I don’t know about you but nothing annoys me more than a joint that won’t stop side burning. So the key to finding the perfect paper lies in a compromise of thickness and ‘burn-ability’.

There are a couple of companies that, in my eyes, have got this perfect. The first of which is OCB. With their Premium King-size papers they have managed to find that fine line that means you get the least amount of paper possible without losing the smoothness and ‘burn-ability’.

The other company that has found that fine line is RAW. Not only are their papers as thin as possible, they also contain NO added bleach or unnecessary toxins. This is a massive plus. Another reason the RAW rolling papers are so good is that on all of their papers they have a special cross-hatched watermark which aids the paper in burning evenly. This has made side burns a thing of the past.

I heard about these vaporizers roughly a year ago but was always a little bit skeptical about how well they would work. After reading through LOTS of great reviews I decided to give it a try for myself and I have to tell you, I’ve not been disappointed.

The reason I was skeptical in the first place was the simplicity of its design but after actually using the Magic Flight Launch Box, I have discovered that its simplicity is the reason the product is so good. Having so few parts means that there is a lot less that can go wrong with it.

The unit itself is surprisingly small/compact and comes in a very nice travel tin which is small enough to fit in your pocket or bag whilst still being able to contain all of the necessary accessories and charger.

As for actually using the unit, it is very easy to use and very effective. You simply fill the chamber, hold in the battery for 3-5 seconds and then in-hale. It does take a little getting used to, as if you hold the battery in for too long it can overheat the plant material which can lead to combustion. However, don’t let this put you off. Once you get used to it, it truly is an awesome vaporizer and is most definitely worthy of the reputation it has acquired in the last year.

For a long time I’ve been using OCB Premium rolls which I love the thickness and feel of but have always found that they were a bit wide for my liking. (For those of you that haven’t heard of ‘rolls’, they are essentially one really long skin in a roll that you can rip to create a joint as long as you like.)

The other day when trawling the internet I found an awesome deal (24 for £12) on these Millennium RS Rolls which come in three different sizes (small, medium and large). These sizes refer to the width of the paper.

The thickness of the Millennium RS Rolls is pretty much the same as the OCB Premium rolls which is a massive plus as if they are too thin it can cause the joint to side burn and too thick means you are smoking unnecessary paper.

Overall I really liked these rolls and think that they will be replacing the OCB rolls in my rolling box from now on.

Today I’m going to be listing my top 5 films that have become part of the smoking culture of today.

5. Grandma’s Boy

Director: Nicholaus Goossen

Written by: Barry Wernick, Allen Covert and Nick Swardson

Starring: Aleen Covert, Linda Cardellini and Shirley Jones

A hilarious tale of a 35 year old games tester that, due to his room mate spending the rent on hookers, has to move in with his grandma and her two elderly room mates.

This film is more than just immature ‘weed’ references; it has a great storyline with Side-splitting character that have made me laugh every time I’ve watched it. And that’s a lot of times.

4. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Director: Kevin Smith

Written by: Kevin Smith

Starring: Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck

Another amazing comedy from Kevin Smith that tells the story of stoners Jay and Silent Bob when they are on an adventurous mission/journey to sabotage a film (Blunt Man and Chronic) that is based on them.

As with all of Kevin Smiths films, this film is packed full of action, comedy and drama with amazing twists that you would never guess.

3. Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle/Escape from Guantanamo Bay

Directors: Danny Leiner / John Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg

Written by: Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg

Starring: John Cho and Kal Penn

Rather than having to decide which is best of the two Harold and Kumar films, I decided to bundle them both in at No.3 as I feel they are best when watched back to back.

The First of the two (Go To White Castle) is the story Harold and Kumars mission to find their ultimate munchies. With many twists and turns in their journey, it is an awesome watch with an awesome storyline.

The second film (Escape from Guantanamo Bay) carries on from where the first left off, with their mission to reach Amsterdam and the girl Harold that fell in love with in the first film. As with the first film, all does not go to plan and they get arrested on the flight to Amsterdam and end up in Guantanamo Bay as suspected terrorists. Again it’s a must watch.

2. Pineapple Express

Director: David Gordon Green

Written by: Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg and Judd Apatow

Starring: Seth Rogan, James Franco and Gary Cole

A process server (Seth Rogan) and his dealer (James Franco) witness a murder and are being pursued by the cities biggest drug dealing gang. It’s an action comedy that had me wetting my pants the whole way through. And it introduced us to the cross joint, which if you haven’t tried, is AWESOME!

1. Friday

Directors: F. Gary Gray

Written by: Ice Cube and DJ Pooh

Starring: Ice Cube, Chris Tucker and Nia Long

The entire film takes place in 24 hours on one fateful Friday. Craig and Smokey (Ice Cube and Chris Tucker) are two guys in the ‘hood’, hanging out on the porch smoking and drinking but no one could predict the antics that were to take place that day.

Friday is an amazing comedy based on ‘Hood Life’ that, in my eyes, is a classic and I could watch it any day of the week. If you haven’t already, give it a watch.

The Silver Palm Leaf Pipe a.k.a. the credit card pipe is actually a product that I have owned for a couple of years now but for some reason I have neglected to inform you all as too how awesome it is. I think this is because it is so discreet that I often forget that it’s in my wallet.

The pipe itself is of a very high build quality and produces an extra smooth smoke as it has lots of little channels on the inside that give the smoke time to cool down. These channels also catch a lot of tar that otherwise would be in your lungs. The base of the pipe is held on by four magnets which give very easy access for cleaning out the tar build up. When I first got the pipe I thought this may be a bit of an unreliable way to secure the base but two years down the line and it’s still holding strong

The Silver Palm Leaf pipe comes in two finishes, chrome and brushed chrome but personally, I’d go for the brushed as it is bound to get fairly scratched in your pocket and these scratches show up much less on the brushed chrome.

Overall this is a really cool little smoking pipe and I can’t believe I’ve forgotten to review it until now.

Recently I’ve been using my Breit bong quite a lot, so I finally decided its time for me to invest in a bong made by the king of bongs. ROOR!

After having a look online at the massive range that Roor offer, I decided that I particularly liked the design of their Little Sista range. The conical flask shaped base really reminds me of something from a chemistry set and makes me feel like some sort crazy scientist when smoking with it.

The version of the Little Sista that I went for was the 7mm Ice Master. This was quite a lot more expensive than the cheapest version but it truly is a piece of art. The ’7mm’ refers to the thickness of the glass, so as far as glass bongs go this is probably one of the more durable on the market. Saying that, I still wouldn’t test this as all glass is quite fragile.

You can also tell the quality of a bong by its weight and this bong is one of the heftiest that I’ve ever handled, which is a great sign.

As for the way it smokes, it is incredibly smooth even without using any ice. I think this is due to the large amount of water that the conical base holds. And with ice it’s out of this world.

What an investment! in a Roor Bong

With the potency of new cannabis strains increasing dramatically in the last few years, as has the strength of the smell. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but if you like to travel a lot with “stuff” on your persons, it is not ideal.

I’ve been using these awesome baggies for a few years now and have great faith in this product. As long as you keep them in a good condition, they reliably block out the smell. I personally like to use two smell proof baggies together but that’s just to stop me from getting paranoid.

They are made of a special tear resistant plastic that ensures they have a more than reasonable life span and as long as they are kept in good condition, they are entirely air/water proof.

Smell Proof baggies come in a number of different sizes to suit every ones preference, ranging from an extra extra small to extra large smell proof baggies.

Me being me, and loving to collect smoking paraphernalia, I have recently purchased myself a Vapocane.

Brought to us by the same people that created the Vapbong, the Vapocane is a vaporizing bong attachment that allows you to turn your existing glass bong into a vaporizer. It is available in both a 14.5mm joint and an 18.8mm which will fit most glass bongs. (My Breitseite bong takes the 18.8mm version)

The Vapocane vaporiser is very easy to use and extremely effective at vaporizing. You quite simply heat the tip whilst inhaling (remembering to cover the shotty/carb), allow the bong to fill with vapor and release the shotty as you would when hitting on any regular bong. This in turn fills your lungs with smooth and tasty vapor. (A lot more flavorsome than smoke)

The way that the Vapocane works is that the air that is taken in through the tip of the Vapocane attachment is super heated. When this air passes over the herbs, it evaporates all of the goodness into a vapor, which is then inhaled.

It is a fairly simple process but it is highly effective. In fact, after an evening of fun with my Vapocane, I could barely stand, didn’t make it to my bed and ended up passed out in my lounge.

GOOD TIMES!!!

Storage is always quite a major problem. You want to keep your precious stash as fresh as a daisy and smelling as tasty as the day it was picked, but you don’t want that smell leaking out into your house, making it quite clear that you are keepiong weed in your home.

420 Science make incredible cannabis related products and my latest discovery of theirs are the incredible 420 Glass Jars.

First of all these jars look incredible. I had a really hard time deciding which design to buy as there are so many. In the end I chose a nice plain design with a simple silver leaf, but there were many, many more to choose from.

Next up, size. These jars from extra small, which are large enough to house a couple of good sized buds, right the way up to extra extra large which can store up to a whopping 56 grams!

I had no need for anything quite so large as that so I took the middle ground and opted for a medium. These jars are still reasonably big and can store up to 10 grams easily.

Honestly, the 420 jars are a wise investment for anyone keeping their stash at home. My weed remains fresh for as long as I store it.

The glass is really good and thick, and from experience I can confirm that it will sustain a knock or two (I just wouldn’t recommend throwing it around on purpose!) I am amazed at how well it keeps smells in! This maybe in part due to the vacuum sealing. The jars have a strong seal that vacuum seals the freshness in. They aren’t called ‘pop top’ jars for nothing; you can hear the hiss of air escaping as you open them.

One of the major benefits of these jars is the fact that they are made from glass which is a non corroding material. Other types of storage, such as metal, plastic or wood will, over time begin to corrode and can either absorb scents or even taint your herbs with their own chemical make-up. Not so with glass storage! Glass storage is so pure and perfect that, according to U.S. News and World Report and the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), they are the best solution for long term storage of water. This is due to the fact glass is made from all natural and non-toxic materials. So there you go! Not only can it keep your stash fresh but in an emergency apocalypse situation you could use your 420 Jar for long term water storage and survival! Can you afford not to get one?!

The right ashtrays can make or break your living space. Gone are the days where your ashtray was a purely functional glass or metal slab, now ashtrays have aesthetics, as well as practicality.

One little word of advice regarding your ashtray. Don’t let it become completely filled with dog ends and half forgotten spliffs, overflowing with ash, used chewing gum and whatever other nasties may be lurking in there. Empty it out regularly and your home will look and smell much nicer. It may seem obvious, but I have more than one friend whom, whenever visit, clearly hasn’t emptied their ashtray in days, and frankly that’s disgusting.

Obviously you can spend as much or as little on an ashtray as you wish, but I prefer ones that say a little something about my personality. You can buy ashtrays that are almost works of art in their beauty! Ceramic, glazed, hand painted; there are so many beuatiful ones available.

Smokeless ashtrays are available, which actually suck smoke into them when you rest them in the ashtray, making the surrounding air cleaner and less stale. Push down ashtrays are great for keeping your living space a little tidier, as the ash and dogends are hidden out of view (still not an excuse for not emptying at least once a day though!)

And of course, there are still those plain glass slabs that simply hold all the ash and dead butts. It’s what you smoke that’s important, after all!
